Josh's Real Birthday, June 29, 2008

Even though we celebrated on Thursday, Josh didn't turn 3 until Sunday, June 29, 2008. We went to church that morning, as we always do. Then we decided to treat Josh to a special birthday lunch. We tried to go to Sonic, but since it had rained and stormed the night before, the playground outside was really wet. His favorite place to eat is Chick-Fil-A, but as we all know well, they were closed on Sunday. So, we found a McDonald's nearby that had an indoor playground and Josh had his usual chicken nuggets and then played for a while. Mommy and Daddy have to admit that the food quality of McDonald's has gotten a little better over the last couple of years, and Oh, don't forget the iced coffee!! After lunch we came home and opened a few gifts from Mommy, Daddy, Gramma, and Granddaddy. Then it was naptime. After naps we opened one more gift from Mommy and Daddy, and then we made "Down to Earth" dessert for Josh's "cake". This is a dessert that Gramma and Granddaddy sent to us to make. It is vanillla pudding, gummi worms, and ginger snap cookies. Josh had a great time mixing the pudding, crushing the cookies, and eating the gummi worms. He didn't want to put the gummi worms in the bowls. He just wanted to eat them all. You can see in a couple of pictures he is trying to eat the worms out of the bowls. We tried to stick a few of the worms on top of the dessert as well, and Josh decided that Daddy's didn't need a worm at the top, so he dove right in and took the worm out with his teeth, head first!!!! After makeing desserts, we drove to Canton to celebrate with lots of people. Actually, it was really a baptism celebration for our church, Community Life, but Josh thought it was a birthday celebration. He had lots of fun in the wave pool hanging on to the tubes. We had a fun family day celebrating the 3rd birthday of Joshua Andrew Griffith!!!

Dear Joshua,
I loved all the pictures from your 2 birthday days! It sounds like you enjoyed fabulous celebrations. Thank you so much for showing us pictures of you making "Down to earth surprises." Were they good?

I was also very impressed with your visit to the fire station for your 1st birthday party. Those are big trucks, aren't they?

Greetings to all your family! And please tell your Mommy that I love her new haircut!!

Loves and kisses,
Gramma . . . and for Granddaddy
