This picture was taken on Friday, February 11 in the afternoon after school. His tooth was really loose and he would not pull it out of his mouth. He was a little scared to pull it himself, but it was just hanging by a thread. We had dinner that evening, had some family time playing Uncle Wiggly, and then it was time to start getting ready for bed.
Josh isn't normally one to go brush his teeth without being told, but he's not in the room with us. All of a sudden we hear this outburst of crying coming from the bathroom. He comes in and he's really mad/sad. I asked him what was wrong and he says "My tooth came out". We thought it must have hurt pretty bad for him to be crying this much. He won't show us, and all he will say is "I didn't want it to come out". We tried to explain to him that that's what teeth do when they are loose, and we talked to him about it. He just kept saying he didn't want it to come out, and he also wouldn't show us his empty space. You can see he was pretty upset about this. The bottom picture is him crying into Daddy's shoulder because he was still sad it had come out. Well as the night progressed, we learned that the tooth had fallen out while he was brushing his teeth, and the reason he was so upset was because HE wanted to be the one to pull it. He finally showed us his empty spot, which really isn't empty because the other tooth is already growing in. And now he has no troubles showing EVERYONE that he has lost a tooth. Gramma and Granddaddy, I am sad to report that we did not get to use the string that you sent him to pull it with because the tooth was gone before the string arrived. Thanks for thinking of him! He did tie the string around a door handle for a couple of days just for fun though!!!! And the tooth fairy did visit him and left him $1 under his pillow, which he was real excited to tell us about at 6:20 the next morning!!!!
